Gaurav Taneja, commonly known online as Flying Beast, is an Indian Youtuber, nutritionist, and pilot. He is well-known for his YouTube gaming, daily vlog, and fitness content creation. Born on July 9th, 1986, in Kanpur, Gaurav Taneja was raised in a middle-class household. He has been a pilot for 9 years, but the airline suspended him when he voiced concerns about the safety of their passengers.
At the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, he finished his elementary education. The next year, in 2008, he enrolled at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, West Bengal, where he eventually earned his graduate degree in Electrical engineering. He enrolled in Atlético Madrid’s flight school in 2011 to receive instruction in the A320 type rating. He began working at IndiGo as the first officer after completing his training. He served as the captain of Indigo in 2014. He began working as a pilot for Air Asia Airlines in 2019. He was recently fired from his position after speaking out in the media and on social media about the airline’s irresponsible actions regarding the safety of its pilots.

Gaurav Taneja’s Controversy With AirAsia
On June 14, 2020, Gaurav posted on Twitter that he had been fired from AirAsia “for advocating for safe operations of an aircraft and its passengers.”
The following were the concerns he brought up with the airlines:-
- To save approximately 8 kgs of fuel, the airline made it a requirement for its pilots to complete 98% of “Flap 3” landings. He continued by saying that in some circumstances, a “Flap full” landing was a safer course of action that it wasn’t safe to proceed in that manner.
He added that if the pilot missed the goal, the airline would consider it a violation of SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).
- The airline’s non-compliance with any COVID directives was Gaurav’s second point of contention.
- The airline’s sick leave policy was the third problem. According to Gaurav, the airlines used the pilots’ sick leave to make up for the vacations. In order to maximize the use of labor, they shortened a holiday in return for sick days.
The fact that two top AirAsia officials were suspended for three months turned out to be a triumph for him, but he also lost his pilot position.
